We in the Messianic movement proudly proclaim that our style of Worship is the Davidic style of Worship. How many of us though have an understanding of just what that means? In this and following blogs I would like to explore what that means to us. In looking to fashion our worship in the Davidic style I believe one needs to try and understand just what King David was trying to accomplish. I also believe that we can see what he was trying to do in asking ourselves a simple question. Why was King David so excited about the return of the ARK of the covenant? I believe that it was more about what the ARK represented than just the ARK itself! The ARK represented the very presence of God! So First and foremost the Davidic style of worship is all about bringing in and maintaining the very presence of God in the midst of our congregation. So the next logical question is how can we bring in and maintain the presence of the Lord in our congregations? We can see in the narrative of 2 Samuel chapter 6 that there is a wrong way and a correct way to bring God’s presence into our midst, and I’ve always been one to try and learn from others mistakes. We also need to realize that just as the Philistines stole away the ark from Israel we have an adversary that will do all within his power to block us from the presence of God. So what do we need to do to bring the presence of God into our life? We can see from 1 Chronicles 15 that after the tragedy of Uzzah being struck down for touching the ark, King David searched Torah for the correct way to move the ark, and had the levites carry it. The scriptures say But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9 NIV). So in blogs to follow we will see what we do as a royal priesthood that helps us bring in God’s presence and what we do that can hinder it. We all need to take a look at how we prepare to enter into God’s presence. The priests of God had to come into His presence prepared. Why would we think it would be any different for us? We need to come prepared to enter into God’s presence by making sure we are clean (repentant prayer) and in the right mindset. So be blessed and let us learn what we can do to enter that place of perfect Shalom in Abba’s presence!

I think this is so very important…to learn how to communicate in prayer to Our G*d…to enter into HIS Presence, never realizing that personal prayer, and communal prayer as one unity could be so different. Thank you for showing that we need both in these times. Looking forward to learning more. I want to be the best Prayer Warrior I can be…the kind that really stirs G*d’s Heart, and makes a difference.
